60 imagesMy first expedition to the Isle of Rùm was in 1985 toi teach environmental field courses. I repeated my journey frequently over the next five years for my PhD research on environmental changes associated with the native woodland restoration program that began in 1958 and led to the planting of over a million trees. After more than thirty yeras, I returned to Rùm, curious to see how the woodlands had grown. I was not disappointed.
